The Process
Step 1: Read the instructions on this page.
Step 2: Click here to Review the Test Preparation Guide and other documents.
Step 3: Click here to Book an Appointment
Step 4: I will review your submission and reply with an available date. Your checkride scenario will be assigned at that time.
What to Expect
My approach to conducting practical tests:
- I follow the Airman Certification Standards (ACS) and Practical Test Standards (PTS) precisely
- Perfection is not the standard; Safety, sound aeronautical decision-making, and good judgment are.
- I give my undivided attention during practical tests
- I love what I do and strive to keep the atmosphere positive
Although my role is to evaluate your performance (please remember that no instruction can be given during the exam), I want you to succeed. I consider it both a privilege and an honor to administer your FAA practical test, and a successful outcome makes the experience even more rewarding.
It's my goal that your checkride is a positive experience. If you meet or exceed the Airman Certification Standards, it will be my pleasure to present you with a Temporary Airman Certificate at the conclusion of your practical test.
Rates and Fees
Examiner's Fee: $900
Payment currently accepted in cash or Zelle only.
Discontinuance: $300-$900 depending on time spent.
Re-examination:
- Full fee ($900) if the previous disapproval was based on an unsatisfactory oral exam, as the entire exam must be repeated.
- $100-$600 if the previous disapproval was based on one or more unsatisfactory flight maneuvers.
Scheduling Your Practical Test
Please review all the information on this page with your instructor before completing the form below. This information is required because the FAA mandates that all practical tests be authorized through the Designee Management System (DMS) before they can be conducted. Tests can be scheduled up to 30 days in advance. Your date is not confirmed until you receive a confirmation email from me.
Important: Please upload a copy of your written test results with your submission.
If your preferred date is unavailable, I will contact you by email to offer the next available appointment.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule for any reason, please notify me by email as soon as possible. If you wake up sick on the day of your checkride, please notify me immediately. There is no charge for a checkride rescheduled for illness -- it's part of the FAA's IMSAFE protocol.
Avoiding Common Issues
One of the most frequent problems on exam day is the applicant or aircraft failing to meet qualification requirements. If eligibility cannot be verified at the time of your scheduled exam, rescheduling will incur a fee of $300.
Additionally, the exam cannot proceed if you lack the required documented training. I've provided training logs below that you can use to verify you have everything needed for exam day.
Questions or Special Circumstances?
If you have a unique situation or questions about your logbook or endorsements, please include those details in the comments field of the form. I'm happy to review your documentation in advance to help ensure your exam day goes smoothly.
Before You Schedule: Review these Documents
All candidates need to review the Practical Test Preparation Guide here.
